November 25 - December 6, 2019

The AstroTwinCoLO 2019 7th Meeting is the seventh event celebrated as part of the Astronomy Twinning Program between the University of Antioquia (Colombia) and Leiden Observatory (Leiden). The meeting will be held in Medellin (Colombia) between November 25 until December 6th, 2019. Participants from Colombia, and in general from all the Andean region, are welcome to come and participate in the Courses that will be offered during the meeting.

Invited Lecturers

Dr. Matus Rybak

Matus did his Masters in physics and Astronomy at the University of St Andrews, slowly transitioning from laser optics to mm-wave instruments to astrophysics. For his PhD, he moved fully into astrophysics - and to Munich, Germany, where he did his PhD with Simon White and Simona Vegetti on (mostly) ALMA observations of gravitational lenses. Now he is in the third year of postdoc at the Leiden Observatory, working with Jacqueline Hodge on uncovering the nature of dusty star-forming galaxies in the early Universe.

Dr. Mohammadjavad Vakili

Mohammadjavad a Postdoc researcher at Leiden Observatory with 8 years experience in cosmological data analysis. He works on using statistical techniques to realize the full potential of the rich datasets from the modern galaxy surveys. He is actively involved in the Kilo Degree Survey, Euclid, and Physics of the Accelerating Universe (PAU) survey. Furthermore, he has undertaken the task of mentoring three data-science track master students at Leiden Observatory.
