PPG FUND RAISED FOR A BLOOD CENTRIFUGE MACHINE
After our success in funding a blood pressure machine, we have now funded the provision of a Blood Centrifuge Machine for the practice.
Before this all blood tests have to be done before 11.00 am. The new machine means that blood tests can be kept overnight and sent the next day for testing. This will increase the number of blood tests that can be done daily and therefore improve the speed at which tests and their results can be dealt with. A major benefit to all patients!
2020 Patient Survey
A survey of patients attending the medical centre was conducted by a team of volunteers from the Patient Participation Group (PPG) to learn from the experience of patients visiting the Castle Medical centre during the final week of February 2020. The survey was conducted in order to improve the services provided by the Practice in Ashby de la Zouch. Total questionnaires received were 584. Please click on the Patient Surveys link on the left of this page or on the tab at the top of the page to view the results in full.
SUMMARY CARE RECORDS - A NOTE FROM CASTLE MEDICAL GROUP
Your Summary Care Record (SCR) is a short summary of your GP medical records. It tells other health and care staff that care for you about the medicines you take, and your allergies. This means they can give better care if you need health care away from your usual GP surgery:
-in an emergency
-when you’re on holiday
-when your surgery is closed
-at out-patient clinics
-when you visit a pharmacy
When you are treated away from your usual GP’s surgery, the health care staff there cannot see your GP medical records. Looking at your SCR can speed up your care and make sure you are given the right medicines and treatment. Staff will ask your permission to look at it (except in an emergency where you are unconscious, for example) and only staff with the right levels of security clearance can access the system, so your information is secure.
For patients with detailed care plans, these can also be shared with other organisations.
What you need to do
We need your consent to share your summary care record or care plan with other agencies.
Summary Care Records improve care, but if you don’t want to have one you can opt out.
If you would like CASTLE MEDICAL GROUP to create a Summary Care Record and share it with other organisations, please inform a member of the CMG team.
MCR COMMUNITY TRANSPORT
Own a car? Have some spare time? Are you willing to help other local people?
mrc’s community transport service provides approx. 15,000 passenger trips per year. Additional volunteers are badly needed in the Ashby area to help patients attend health-related appointments, patients whose age or infirmity make it difficult for them to use alternative transport.
As a volunteer driver,
... you are reimbursed - the only cost to you will be your time;
... you need only give as much or as little time as you can spare;
.. you will have a personalised assessment and back-up from the mrc team.
To learn more about what this valuable local service does, and what’s involved as a volunteer, phone Lauren,
