Work in Progress

In addition to the genealogy and family history projects that have been completed under auspices of the American Society for Genealogy and Family History (see "Publications" for the list of completed work), the Society is supporting a number of on-going research projects. If you have information that may be helpful in shaping future genealogical and family history research or the completion of any of these projects identified here, please contact the Society. The following is a listing of these works in progress.

The Family of John Nicton King - John Nicton King was born May 1831 in Sevier County, Tennessee, the son of Wiley King and Margaret Adair King. John Nicton King married about 1851 probably in Sevier County, Tennessee, Nancy Elizabeth Nations, the daughter of John and Kissiah Nations. The Society has already published a volume on his Father's ancestry and children. See Robert R. King, Wiley King and Margaret Adair King of Little Greenbrier Cove, Sevier County, Tennessee (McLean, VA: American Society for Genealogy and Family History, 1997), 132 pages. $15.00. The research on John Nicton King and his family is looking at the following areas.

    • Between 1860 and 1870, John Nicton King and his family moved to Campbell County, Tennessee. The family later lived a few miles away to Whitley County, Kentucky. The research will attempt to follow their movement and determine the reasons for these changes of residence. John Nicton King and Nancy Elizabeth Nations King died after 1900.

    • They were parents of ten children. We are undertaking research on each of these children, their spouses, their children, and where the individual families settled. The children settled in and around Campbell County, Tennessee, Whitley County, Kentucky, and Gibson County, Indiana. Research will attempt to determine the places of residence.

    • In addition to the King Family, we will attempt to gather additional information about the family lines and genealogy of the spouses of the children of John Nicton King and Nancy Elizabeth Nations King.

Although two sons died before they married, three sons and their one daughter had large families in Utah. The three sons raised families in Lehi, Utah, and they and their families were major contributors to in the community. We are seeking any information on the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of William Webb and Emma Stokes Webb.
