The Life and Descendants of James Isaac Atkinson, with Information about the family of Franklin Henry Rudy and Margaret Ann Reed Rudy - James Isaac Atkinson was born in 1842 in Sackville, New Brunswick, the son of William Atkinson and Phoebe Campbell Atkinson. The Society has already published a volume on his Father's ancestry and children. See Robert R. James Isaac migrated to Utah with his family in 1853. The projected research will deal with the following issues:

    • His marriage in 1870 to Hannah Pauline Brown, the daughter of William Brown and Elizabeth Andrews. They were the parents of nine children, all born in Woods Cross, Davis County, Utah. Information is being sought on all children, all grandchildren and as many great grandchildren as possible.

    • His life. James Isaac Atkinson played a prominent role in a number of building projects in Bountiful and South Bountiful during his life time. In addition, he was an officer and member of the Board of the Deseret Live Stock Company from the time it was formed in 1890 until his death in 1933. The company was one of the largest in the state of Utah, and owned substantial land in Woodruff, Rich, Tooele, and Salt Lake Counties.

    • The Family of Franklin Henry Rudy and Margaret Ann Reed Rudy. Three of James Isaac Atkinson's children married children of Franklin Henry Rudy and Margaret Ann Reed Rudy. Franklin Henry Rudy was born in Pennsylvania, and his family is Pennsylvania German. They migrated to Utah in the 1860s. Margaret Ann Reed Rudy is a descendant of one of John and Rebecca Bearce Reed, who joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) in the fall of 1830 in Ohio, and they were among the earliest converts to the new church. The family is descended from very early Massachusetts and Connecticut settlers. There were nine Rudy children, and we are seeking information on all of the children and grand children.
