Squirrel brushes are extremely soft, very absorbent, point very well when wet and hold a lot of water or colour. Pointed squirrel brushes are suitable for both washes and fine detail works. They are irreplaceable for watercolours and other light liquid paints such as gouaches and temperas.

Hairs from the tails of Siberian squirrels have a length up to 9cm. The maximal thickness of a single hair is not more than 0.07mm. The hair tip is so thin that it is hard to see it even under a magnifying glass.
