After going through the Lamar program I will continue to model best practices of using technology for student-centered lessons in the secondary classroom. This will require me to continually seek professional development opportunities such as district classes, Region 10 training, and professional technology conferences. I have an interest in continuing to collaborate with my colleagues and to connect with my Professional Learning Network for feedback and new opportunities.
I also plan to explore professional development opportunities related to getting a master technology teacher certification and a web instructor certification. I also plan to create and conduct professional development workshops for other teachers. Every time I conduct a workshop or training I learn more about what teachers need to integrate technology.
To have a greater influence on campus based technology initiatives I will apply to serve as the representative for the Technology department on the Campus Instructional Leadership Team (CILT). This will require me to continually learn more about the role of technology in improving the effectiveness of professional learning communities. As a CILT member I will have the opportunity to recommend the use of technology to improve teacher professional practice and productivity. Serving as a CILT member will serve as “job-embedded” professional development.
The professional development that I participate in will feed my need to grow as a technology leader. I plan to focus on increasing teacher use of technology personally and in the classroom. I will also take advantage of professional development opportunities geared towards helping me improve my ability to coach teachers in their integration of technology.
