Design principles for all web site assignments:

  • All web pages must use academic English
  • spelling, capitalization, punctuation and grammar count
  • text must be easy to read against your background
  • All web page topics must be school appropriate
  • All web pages must have a defined topic (be specific rather than general)

Create a Google Account - parent creates this account and gives access to the student. Please view the PowerPoint slide show below.

Due Date: 03-15-11

Create a Google site with 3 pages under the home page (published as unlisted) - parent/student account

Due Date: 03-25-11

  • The site will have a tightly-defined topic, be school appropriate and useful
  • School quality English; spelling, grammar, usage and punctuation
  • The site will have:
    • statement of purpose
    • web page links
    • a video link
    • text related to topic
    • images related to topic
    • Your first name, last initial and class period

#1 Learning the "bones" HTML Structure Due Date: 04-08-11

Create an Fair Use and Copyright web page using HTML that contains:

  • Name of Site
  • Your Name
  • Title of the page
  • Heading on the page
      • Color and size the text
  • Body
    • Background color
    • Copyright and Fair Use Rules
        • How much of a song, written page, web page, video, book, etc. can you use?
      • Add an image below your text <img src ="url">

#2 Getting Fancy - color, size, font, headers, alignment, marquee, Glitter Graphics

Due Date: 04-15-11

  • Create a web page about a school-appropriate topic that you choose
  • Use HTML styles for headers, color, size
  • Use Glitter Graphics to add fun elements
      • Background
      • Text
      • Animated graphic

#3 Adding Images and video Due Date: 04-22-11

  • Create a web page about a school appropriate topic that you choose.
  • Add images that support your topic
    • Add images using the sample images code below
    • Be sure that you have 5 different images that show images with text at the top, middle, bottom, above and below.
  • Add a video that supports your topic
  • Use text and formatting to make it all go together
    • head, background, fancy stuff, etc.

#4 Creating a web page with lists Due Date: 04-29-11

  • Create a web page with 2 different lists
    • list one is numbers <ol>
    • list two is bullets <ul>
    • list three will be a choice of other types of lists ( alphabetical upper or lower case, Roman Numerals upper or lower case, open circles, square bullets etc.)
    • the lists need to be of related items - example "Favorite Foods"
    • Add a heading and a paragraph that explains what your lists are about.
        • example: lists of your favorites; like books, music, movies, games, etc.
        • Topic Example; My Favorite Movies and TV Shows

# 5 Create a web page with 12 links Due Date 05-06-11

Create a web page for a specific topic or grade level with links to school appropriate websites for the grade or topic you have chosen.

  • Create a table using Quackit Table Generator
  • After you create your header you will insert a table using the Quackit Table Generator
  • Create a table that is 3 rows by 4 columns (12 cells for your links) Choose colors for your table
  • You will create a link to a website for the words in each cell

#6 Choice Project Due Date: 05-Create a school appropriate project with a topic of your choice. This project should include all of the skills you learned this quarter.

Use the skills you have leaned to demonstrate your knowledge of web design.

Include: images, links, video, list, table, formatted text, Glitter Graphics or similar items

Use text and formatting to make it all go together

Follow all of the design rules (spelling too)

This site will be the project for the final day "Best Site" Contest. You will run it on your computer to be judged by your classmates
