Training will be Saturday March 1, after the Volunteer Breakfast. The time will be around 10:00am. Training is provided in person by the PGA Tour Shotlink staff. The class will be held (as in the past) in the Palmer Terrace. The session generally lasts 2 hours, and includes hands-on time with the scoring device.
All API Walking Scorers must attend the entire training session. Missing the training session will remove a scorer from the schedule Thursday through Sunday, and will likely make you an alternate for the Wednesday Pro-Am. API scorers are permitted to score the Monday Pro-Am without attending the Saturday training. The Monday Pro-Am does not use Shotlink, therefore it does not count as a training session for the tournament week.
Volunteers that have a conflict with the training session can request an exemption from the PGA Shotlink staff via their API committee leadership. Exemptions are granted only for walking scorers that have scored with the current Shotlink scoring device at a tournament within 12 weeks of the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational:
Hero World Challenge, December 5-8
Grant Thornton Invitational, December 12-15
Q-School, December 12-15
The Sentry, January 2-5
Sony Open, January 9-12
The American Express, January 16-19
Farmers Insurance Open, January 22-25
WM Phoenix Open, February 6-9
Genesis Invitational, February 13-16
Mexico Open, February 20-23
The Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, Feburary 27-March 2
Exemptions to the training will not be granted except for the tournament experiences listed above.
