Walking Scorer
Check-in at the volunteer tent at least 45 minutes prior to scheduled tee time. If unsure about scheduled time, report 45 minutes prior to the earliest estimated tee time.
Perform radio check with ShotLink truck.
Use the PGA provided device to record players strokes and statistics in real-time.
Be available to answer score verification questions in the scoring trailer after the round.
Return the device to the volunteer tent immediately after the round.

Alternate
Check in at the volunteer tent based on your alternate assignment:
AM alternates are required 45 minutes prior to the earliest scheduled tee time
PM alternates are required 45 minutes prior to the earliest afternoon scheduled tee time.
If AM/PM is not specified, please ask for clarification.
Weekend alternates will likely have a specific report time assigned.
Be ready to fill-in as a walking scorer if a scheduled scorer does not report on-time.
Be ready to take the place of a walking scorer during the round if needed.
Assist with duties in the volunteer tent which may include:
check-in of scorers as they report to the tent
assembly of radios
breakdown of radios after rounds are completed
Cover Restroom Breaks (detailed in the next section).
Be available to assist other scoring-related committees (Standard Bearers, Spotters, etc.) if they have staffing needs.
Restroom Breaks (formerly "Cross-Over:)
Check in at the volunteer tent based on your restroom break assignment:
AM restroom break is required 30 minutes after the earliest scheduled tee time
PM restroom break is required 30 minutes after the earliest afternoon scheduled tee time
If AM/PM is not specified, please ask for clarification.
Weekend restroom break assignments will likely have a specific time listed.
Pick up a radio and perform a radio check with the Shotlink truck ("crossover radio check"). Go to 7 or 12 green prior to the arrival of the first group.
Take the time to identify the convenient restroom opportunities for the walking scorers passing through.
7 green to 8 tee
use the permanent bathrooms to the right
12 green to 13 tee
use the player port-o-let AFTER all players and caddies have passed by
As each walking scorer reaches the green, offer to give them a break.
For the walking scorers that accept, allow them to finish and verify the hole before taking the walking scorer device. Be sure you know how to identify each player in the group.
Some scorers may prefer that you finish the group scoring at the green. Ask the scorer to identify each player and their current lie before the scorer walks away.
Be sure to stay with the players & caddies so that you have controlled access through the spectators.
Perform walking scorer duties on the next tee until the regular walking scorer returns.
The person with the walking scorer device should answer radio calls for the group.
Check out at the volunteer tent when the last group has crossed, or when you are replaced.
It is a custom that all volunteers should stand when players are putting. This rule applies to the crossover people as well. The walking scorer for the group is exempted as it is their only opportunity to sit during the round.
Tee Host/Hostess (Starter)
Check in at the volunteer tent at least 45 minutes prior to the first scheduled tee time.
Pick up a radio and perform a radio check with the Shotlink truck.
Pick up a list of tee times with walking scorer assignments.
Verify that each walking scorer and standard bearer reports to the tee at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled tee time.
Call the volunteer tent on the radio if a scorer or standard bearer has not reported to the tee.
Facilitate the introductions between walking scorers and players in their group.
Facilitate the introductions between the walking scorer and the standard bearer.
Inform the walking scorer if any additional people will be accompanying the group inside the ropes.
Club pros (usually with Pro-Am groups to facilitate play)
Sponsor VIPs (usually inside the rope passes on Thursday and Friday)
