History

Delta Chapter's Founders, Circa 1992

Alpha Omega Epsilon is a professional engineering sorority composed of female and gender non-conforming students and alumnae in the field of engineering and technical sciences. The sorority was founded on November 13th, 1983, at Marquette University. Four months later, on March 22, 1984,  the sorority became a recognized organization on the Marquette University Campus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The aim was to create an organization focused on increasing women in engineering, which has grown to promote women and gender non-conforming individuals in STEM. 27 members were responsible for making this dream become a reality, which allowed for the formation of the Alpha chapter at Marquette. More information regarding the founding of our international sorority can be found here: https://www.alphaomegaepsilon.org/history/

Our chapter, Delta, began as Omega Xi at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) on December 3rd, 1989. The members of Omega Xi made it a goal for the sorority to become a national sorority within five years of establishment. This was set in motion when on April 13th, 1992, the members of Omega Xi became initiated as a prospective chapter of Alpha Omega Epsilon. Finally, on Saturday, August 1st, 1992, that dream became a reality when they were initiated into Alpha Omega Epsilon as the Delta Chapter. As of today, we are MSOE's oldest living sorority with a legacy of supporting underrepresented groups in STEM for over 30 years.
