In 2024, our donations were again distributed in the Mbankomo municipality near the capital Yaoundé. The location was chosen during the donation handover in June 2023. At that time, the schools had already reported the need for further support of students and their families. More than 600 children from 34 primary schools and 17 kindergartens received school bags this year in addition to the usual pens, exercise books, blackboards, books and drawing materials. The so-called school kits were purchased on the local market, with attention being paid to quality and size in order to best meet the needs of the students.
This year we distributed the donations within the municipality of Mbankomo, which is approximately 21 km from the center of the capital, Yaoundé. The handover of the water well was something special this time - we donated a solar-powered drinking water system for the first time. And the handover of the school materials to the students and kindergartens was once again rewarded with great joy.
Due to lower donations compared to the years before the pandemic, we had to prioritize and decided on two projects - firstly, the donation of school teaching materials to the primary school in Batchenga, and secondly, the construction of a drinking water fountain at the primary school in Balamba.
Due to numerous donations, in October 2021, we were able to build another drinking water well for schoolchildren and the population. The handover and opening ceremony took place on October 26th, 2021 at the primary school “Ecole Publique Ballon II” in Batchenga in the presence of the school management, teachers, students, parents, local authorities, villagers, traditional authorities and some delegates. Daouda Sadou, our chairman, personally took over the construction of the well and gave the drinking water well to the happy and grateful population.
From the donations we received, we distributed school supplies to three schools, to a total of 630 pupils. The special thing about this year: the number of children who received a donation has increased significantly - it almost doubled.
Due to the current global pandemic, Daouda Sadou was not able to personally hand over the donations to the children and schools in the summer this year. Nevertheless, we managed to organize a local representation in Cameroon, accompanied by his family. During the Christmas week the donations could be distributed.
For organizational reasons, two schools near the capital Jaunde (Yaoundé) were considered this year, where we distributed donations for the first time.
We are very happy that our small charitable organization is gaining more and more recognition. With the donations received last year, we were able to support with four projects in 2019 for the first time. We provided two schools (Ecole Publique de Biaberebe and the Ecole Publiques du Plateau) with teaching and writing material and have constructed two more wells to provide the pupils and people with clean drinking water: at the Ecole de Biabere Bafia and at the Ecole Publique d' Elon Bekassa. Many thanks to all our supporters!
