My research focuses on public goods, their impact on human development, and how political processes influence their provision.  I have a particular interest in infrastructure.  My research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the Swedish Research Council, the IGC, 3ie, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Alliance Foundation, Engineers without Borders UK and the Earth Institute at Columbia University.
