Beach

Although the Netherlands is not famous for its beaches, you can, if the weather allows you, go to the beach in Amsterdam.

Blijburg Beach

Located in IJburg, new islands in the east of Amsterdam, this beach can be accessed from the Central Station with Tram 26 towards IJburg. You can exit at the last stop and walk to the beach. It's also a nice ride with a bicycle, about 25-30 minutes from the center of Amsterdam. This beach is the only one where swimming is officially allowed.

Strand West

This is one of the largest beaches in Amsterdam West. It is also accessible by bicycle, but you can also use public transport Bus 22 from Central Station and get off at 'Spaarndammerstraat ", with a few minutes walk to the beach.

Amsterdam Plage

This beach is located to the west (and behind) the Central Station location is called 'Stenen Hoofd'. You can access it with 15 minutes on foot. This beach is open from June 15 to September 15.

Strand Zuid

Located at the back of the RAI Congress Centre between RAI and Beatrixpark, south of Amsterdam city centre. It has 2000 m2 of sand, chairs, terraces, a beach volleyball and field and also has shower. The beach can be reached by metro line 51 or tram 4 from Central Station. A beach is open from June 12 to August 21 seven days a week from 10am to 11pm (midnight on weekends.)
