This speaker project started out as an experiment to use the original speakers from a powered computer speaker. Finding the sound produced by the speakers interesting, I placed the speaker in a cardboard box made to test another larger speaker driver. The resulting sound was quite pleasant and detailed.
The next step was to build its own enclosure, out of corrugated cardboard. The lower portion of the enclosure was cut out and a paper sheet was taped on the front, producing a passive radiator.
Results were sufficiently encouraging to design a larger enclosure and to decide to construct an enclosure out of plywood.
