Welcome to All Things Beautiful by Sami—where fashion is more than fabric; it’s storytelling stitched with soul.
I’m Samuel Linn Davis (Sami), a costume designer, master tailor, and storyteller whose work is rooted in lived experience, emotional logic, and the long tradition of Black theatre in America. Her career spans decades of hands‑on craft, including nearly eight years with M Ensemble, Miami, FL, the oldest continuously operating Black theatre company in the nation, and her current work with Black Theatre Troupe, a historic Phoenix institution founded in 1970.
I design and style from the inside out — shaping character through silhouette, texture, and the quiet details that reveal a life. My artistry blends precision tailoring with intuitive storytelling, creating costumes that feel inhabited, dimensional, and true. I am known for elevating quiet characters, honoring community memory, and crafting looks that support performance without overshadowing it.
My process is collaborative, grounded, and deeply human. Whether building from scratch or curating from the world, I do my best to bring a full vocabulary of craft: tailoring, wig work, aging, distressing, and the subtle shaping of identity through clothing.
I live and works in Tempe, Arizona, continuing a lifelong commitment to Black theatre, character‑driven design, and the kind of storytelling that carries history, humor, and heart.
The Quiet Code:
In every stitch, every sketch, and every conversation, I hold fast to a few simple truths:
Respect is non-negotiable. Whether you’re a client, collaborator, or curious passerby, you’ll be met with dignity. I expect the same in return.
Time matters. Creative work is sacred, and so is the time it takes to do it well. I honor deadlines, clear communication, and the rhythm of real life.
Craft is legacy. I don’t just make garments—I tell stories. Each piece carries intention, memory, and the quiet power of transformation.
Professionalism is kindness. I believe in clarity, follow-through, and showing up with integrity. That doesn’t mean cold—it means considerate.
Every person is a universe. I design for individuals, not algorithms. Your vision, your quirks, your history—they’re welcome here.
This studio isn’t just a place to get something made. It’s a space to be seen, heard, and honored. If that resonates with you, we’ll probably work well together.
