MANILA, Philippines - In a visit to an orphanage in Port Au Prince, Haiti, Miss World 2013 winner Megan Young and Julia Morley fell about 8 to 10 feet when the floor of the temporary building's second story collapsed.
Around 20 of the 78 children being housed in the orphanage rushed towards Young when they saw her enter their classroom, causing the floor to collapse.
Miss World chairman Julia Morley was badly injured and was reported to be "in agony" after the fall. X-rays later revealed that she suffered from a significant fracture on her hip. She was airlifted to Miami for surgery which reportedly went well.
Jonathan, one of the students in the orphanage, also suffered from fractures while the rest of the children escaped with minor cuts and bruises.
The Miss Wold website reported that Young was "able to land on her feet," escaping injury. The site also pointed out she was able to protect her crown despite the shock of the fall, making sure it would not be damaged.

Megan Lynne Young (born February 27, 1990 in Alexandria, Virginia) is a Filipino beauty queen, actress and model.She won the Miss World Philippines title and was later crowned as Miss World 2013 in Bali, Indonesia. She is the first woman from the Philippines to win the title of Miss World.
Young first appeared in ABS-CBN in the youth oriented show "Star Magic Presents" Astigs and Abt Ur Luv. She also played the role of Shane in Kokey, opposite Zanjoe Marudo. She became well known when she appeared as one of the celebrity housemates in Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition 2, dubbed as "The Princess of Charm". After PBB, she portrayed the villain Marcela in ABS-CBN's remake of I Love Betty La Fea opposite John Lloyd Cruz. In 2009, she was one of four personalities introduced as video jockeys for the relaunching of Channel [V] Philippines. Young also became an occasional host in several shows in Studio 23. In 2012, Young had her big break as a lead actress in Hiyas, reuniting with Zanjoe Marudo as her love interest. In 2013, she appeared in TV5's dramas Never Say Goodbye and Misibis Bay.
Aside from television, Young has also starred in a few films, one of which was The Reunion, where she played Toyang, opposite Xian Lim.

She was named Miss World Philippines 2013 during the pageant coronation night on August 18, 2013.

Megan Young was crowned as Miss World 2013 in Bali, Indonesia, making her the first Filipina to win the title of Miss World since its creation in 1951. During the preliminaries, she also won the "Top Model" competition, placed fourth in the "Multimedia Challenge" and fifth in the "Beach Beauty" contest.
Young also received the Continental Queen of Beauty title as Miss World Asia 2013, the highest ranked contestant in the Asian region.
As Miss World 2013, Young will be based in England and so far travelled to France, the Philippines, United States and Haiti, where Young and Mrs. Morley experienced a very serious accident while visiting an orphanage. Young only suffered minor injuries from the fall while Julia Morley is currently recovering from a hip fracture in Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami.
Young's first showbiz break was through the second season of the talent reality search, StarStruck, wherein she placed in the top six. After two years with GMA Artist Center, she moved to ABS-CBN following her sister, Lauren Young. She is the first StarStruck alumna to transfer to GMA's rival station, ABS-CBN.
2004-present: Acting career
Young was born in Alexandria, Virginia, USA to a Filipino mother and American father. Her parents are Victoria (née Talde) and Calvin Young. She moved to Olongapo City, Zambales, Philippines at age ten. She attended secondary education in Regional Science High School III in Subic Bay Freeport Zone from 2002 to 2005 before moving to Manila to pursue her acting career. She is currently taking AB Digital Filmmaking at the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Manila.
Young is currently a member of ABS-CBN's Star Magic. She is the elder sister of actress Lauren Young.
