Need 2-3 8th grade parents to set up the cafeteria the day of the dinner: put red tableclothes, vases with roses and candles on each, put up red and white streamers to make room look “Italian.” Decorating to be done around 2:15 pm after cafeteria is done serving food for the day.
No cleanup crew is needed. Teachers, parents who serve and students do the cleanup.
Need 2-3 8th grade parents to serve the dinner (put the spaghetti and salad on plates and place on tables just prior to students being seated for dinner). These parents will assist in breaking down the room after the students eat to prepare for the dance immediately following the meal. This happens very quickly! This is about a 1 hour commitment.
Communication is done with 8th grade team teacher reps for that school year. Get names from Parents as Partners facilitator.
You will likely be contacted by someone to ask 8th grade parents to solicit for approximately 25 small prizes to be given out at Bingo following the dinner. Ideas: movie candy, gift cards, books, water bottles, etc.
You will need to purchase 16 round tablecloths to fit the cafeteria tables which measure 60” across. Dollar stores are a great place to find these. Purchase them in either red and white checked or all red in keeping with the Italian theme. Get a tax exempt form from Barb Edwards in the front office and submit your receipt to her for reimbursement. She cannot reimburse for sales tax.
Prior to purchasing anything, please check the Spaghetti Dinner box for any items that may be left over from the previous year to save on the expenses. Check with the Parents as Partners facilitator to see where this box might be located.
