Unisa- Western Cape is one of 7 regional centres of the University of the South Africa (Unisa), the leading open distance learning university in South Africa.
The Western Cape regional centre consists of the Cape Town regional campus in Parow and a regional service centre in George. There currently 28 000 Unisa students registered in the Western Cape.
The Cape Town and George office provide a range of support to students, including counseling/ career guidance services, administrative support related to applications and registration, facilitation of learning and support and library services.
The objectives of hosting the annual academic symposia/ conferences/ seminars, in line with the strategic objectives of Unisa, are as follows:
Facilitate the academic development of facilitators and tutors in the Western Cape.
To create a broader space of engagement among teaching and learning practitioners,
To yield stronger relationships between Higher Education (HE) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) professionals in the Western Cape.
