Creating a quality DNA for higher education during a pandemic

Dr Keith Jacobs

Dr. Jacobs is the Regional Director of Unisa Western Cape. He holds the following qualifications, NTD (T4), B.Ed., MBA and a Ph.D. (Engineering Management). 

Dr. Jacobs worked as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Head of Department (all Mechanical Engineering over a 29 nine-year period), Associate and Dean of Engineering and Regional Director.

He has been on various university accreditation panels for the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) in capacities ranging from visit leader to mechanical team leader to member. He also chaired the engineering standard generation body at ECSA and is currently the Vice President of ECSA. Together with this, he is the Deputy Chair of the Sydney Accord and serves on the Governing Group of the International Engineering Alliance.

Dr Jacobs serves on several professional and advisory bodies. These include being the President of the South African Society of Engineering Educators, the Accreditation Committee of the Council for Higher Education, Cape Higher Education Consortium and an Executive member of the Council for the Built Environment.

His research interests are in the area of agile Quality Frameworks for Higher Education and the role this process plays in the sustainability of Educational Institutions.
