Prof. MS Mothata is the Deputy Registrar Student Administration and Systems Integration. He holds the following qualifications: BA; B Ed; M Sc (Education);       

D Ed; UED; PTC. He joined UNISA’s Faculty of Education in January 1995 as Lecturer in Comparative Education and later promoted to Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor.

Between 1995 and 2012, he held several senior positions in UNISA. He was Deputy Dean of the former Faculty of Education; he was later seconded as Assistant to the Vice Chancellor; he was also seconded by UNISA to the erstwhile Technikon SA as Executive Advisor of the Vice Chancellor; for five years he was appointed Executive Director in the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor; and later appointed as Acting Director Planning. 

For 4 years, he was appointed Registrar at the Tshwane University of Technology. He rejoined UNISA in September 2019 as Deputy Registrar. 

Prof Mothata is an author and has several publications under his name.
