Learning Targets are the key elements or skills that I want the students to focus on during physical education class. Learning Targets change daily and coincide with what unit we are participating in.
Unit: Orientation
Learning Targets:
-Students will be introduced to gym expectations and guidelines.
-Students will be introduced to warm-up procedures.
-Students will be introduced to recess rules and expectations.
-Students will be introduced to several activities which could be played at recess, including kickball, tag games, and four square.
Unit: Manipulatives
Learning Targets:
-Students will be introduced to how to ride the scooters safely
-Students will use cooperation and honesty during activities.
Unit: Fitness Testing
Learning Targets:
-Students will participate in the curl-up test to test their core muscular strength and endurance.
-Students will participate in the bent arm hang test to test their upper body muscular strength and endurance.
-Students will participate in the sit and reach test to test their flexibility.
-Students will participate in the pacer test to test their aerobic capacity.
-Students will participate in either the half mile run or mile run to test their aerobic capacity.
Unit: Catching & Throwing
-Students will be introduced to different ways to catch an object.
-Students will be introduced to different ways to throw an object.
-Students will be introduced to how to aim when throwing an object.
Unit: Chasing, Fleeing, Dodging
-Students will be introduced how to perform the following skills: chase, flee, and dodge.
-Students will be honest and show positive sportsmanship during chasing, fleeing, and dodging activities.
Unit: Kicking
-Students will be introduced to the instep kick and the toe kick.
-Students will be introduced to dribbling with their feet.
-Students will be introduced to passing with their feet.
Unit: Striking
-Students will be introduced to the forearm pass, overhead pass, and the underhand serve.
-Students will be introduced to how to use their body to strike an object.
-Students will be introduced to how to use an object to strike another object.
Unit: Ball Handling
-Students will be introduced to dribbling, chest pass, bounce pass, and how to shoot a basketball.
-Students will work together and take turns during basketball activities.
Unit: Jump Rope
-Students will be introduced how to jump rope individually with a short jump rope.
-Students will be introduced how to jump rope with a small group with the long jump rope.
Unit: Parachute
-Students will work cooperatively and use teamwork to achieve different tasks and activities.
Unit: Bowling
-Students will be introduced to several bowling skills, including the bowling approach and pendulum swing.
-Students will be introduced to basic bowling rules and bowling etiquette procedures.
Unit: Track and Field
-Students will be introduced to individual running events.
-Students will be introduced to how to run a relay and pass a baton.
-Students will be introduced to several field events, including running long jump and standing long jump.
