The annual debate over the merits of real and artificial Christmas trees continues, but not among the McGuckin family. Roy and Verna McGuckin operate RBM Gardens Christmas Trees in Headingley, selling thousands of cut trees and handmade wreaths each December. The McGuckins sell trees and wreaths on their lot, but the majority of their revenue comes from their wholesale business. Groups including Optimist and Kinsmen Clubs, 67th Winnipeg Scouts and high school students sell them as fundraisers. ....

For the past 50 years, hundreds of Winnipeggers have relied on the Scouts to carry on a Christmas tradition. The 67th Winnipeg Scout Group is hosting its 52nd annual Christmas tree lot at the Corydon Community Centre in River Heights (1370 Grosvenor Ave.). Open until Dec. 22 (for all the last minute shoppers out there), the scouts will send around 1,500 trees home with families this Christmas season. ....
