Satellite-to-Satellite
The Satellite-to-Satellite communication link serves to network all of the SunWire member satellites and provide a web of connectivity for control and telemetry data. By linking the satellites together, reliability is increased because any satellite can be accessed from any base station provided the user is authenticated.
From a technical perspective, the satellite-to-satellite link is integrated with the satellite-to-earth link for design simplicity and enhanced reliability. The same frequencies, encryption, and RF hardware are used. The only difference in the signal chain is a splitter at the output that routes the encoded RF signal to a separate, smaller dish antenna oriented towards other SunWire satellites.
