When we bought this Commander 42, the forward head had only a 6-gallon port-a-potty. I have no idea how the previous owner got by with that. After replacing the port-a-potty with a new TMC marine toilet, we plumbed in a Panasonic DL-EDX10 "washlet" bidet. This is a truly outstanding upgrade for any boat.

• • The seat and lid are hydraulically dampened, so they don't slam down.

  • The seat is heated, and the temperature is adjustable.

  • The bidet spray has three power settings plus a turbo button!

  • The bidet spray is also adjustable for temperature.

With excess toilet paper being the No. 1 cause of plugged marine toilets, bidets are a natural for boats because they virtually eliminate the need for paper.

The aft stateroom head also has a shower.
