July 2011--dejunk & haulout

Our first act as owners of MV Honey was to have her hauled. We then began dejunking the boat and did a bottom job.

The missus took over. She is an expert classic boat dejunker.

I would estimate that we removed close to 1000lbs of "valuables" from the boat by the time we finished dejunking.

Meanwhile, on the outside of the boat I got to scraping and dealing with 12 years of barnacle damage.

Check it out! No more zincs!!!

The depth sounder thruhull spacer was entirely degraded.

I bought a new depth sounder and cold molded (epoxy encapsulated) a bedding block from a chunk of mahogany.

And then the painting began!

Two coats of US Paints New England bottom paint overall, with an additional coat from the chine up. At the same time we painted the blue accent stripe. Once the bottom paint and accent stripe were dry, we did the white bootstripe. All topside paints were Interlux Topsides.

While I had the boat out of the water, it seemed like a good time to replace the shaft log hoses. The old ones were...frightening.

Then the big day came to splash: July 31, 2011.
