As the science of magic increases wizards’ powers and as dwarven steam improves mining technology, one group seeks a return to a simpler life. They seek a life that is not fettered by constant research or stinking machinery. They are the wokan.
Characteristics:
Wokan communicate with animals and excel at dealing with beasts. They are friends to all in the wild, using their spell-casting to thwart so-called progress. At later levels, wokan can take animal form to better lead and protect natural creatures from harm.
Background: Wokan were some of Blackmoor’s first magic users to discover arcane powers. As they taught their craft, more and more magic came to Blackmoor. When the sorcerers tried to overthrow Blackmoor, the wokan hid and refused to participate. Today the wokan are troubled by the prospects of continued scientific and magical research. They live in the forests, trying to maintain the wilderness.
Races: Westryn and half-orcs make excellent wokan, as both races are comfortable in the wilds and can be found in most forests. Other races can become wokan as well. Many Thonian wizards become wokan as a way to restore their faith in the raw power of wild magic.

Simply put, wokan characters are Druids (see the 13 True Ways product from Pelgrane Press). The wokan is essentially a druid with the Wokan talent, either as an Initiate or an Adept.
Wokan
This kind of druid has learned to tap into the arcane powers of nature itself. Unlike a sorcerer, who does not quite understand the power they wield, or the Cabal-trained scientist that is a wizard, the wokan draws on the primal arcane power of the world directly.
The wokan can choose to cast any at-will spell from the Sorcerer or Wizard list. The wokan uses their Wisdom modifier as the base for their attack bonus and damage bonus as listed in the spell. They may cast spells at the level specified in the Level Progression
The wokan may also cast one "once-per-battle" spell per battle. Again, this spell may be any Sorcerer or Wizard once-per-battle spell of an appropriate level as specified by the Level Progression below.
Finally, the wokan may cast a number of daily spells as specified in the Level Progression below. As with the other spells, the Daily spells may be selected from either the Sorcerer or Wizard lists. A wizard's utility spells still count as daily spells for daily slot usage.
None of the spells cast by the Wokan need be selected ahead of time. They may choose them at time of casting.
Adventurer Feat The Wokan can borrow nature's power, allowing them to cast spells at a higher level. Once per day, the wokan may cast one once-per-battle or one daily spell at a spell level one higher than normal--i.e. a 1st level caster may cast a spell at 3rd level, a 3rd level caster at 5th level etc. The wokan may take this feat as twice at Adventurer Tier; each time it increases the number of times they may use this feat once per day.
Champion Feat The Wokan gains one more daily use of the borrow's nature power ability from the Adventurer's feat. This feat may be taken twice at Champion tier.
Epic Feat The Wokan can apply the borrow nature's power effect to an at-will spell instead of a once-per-battle or daily spell. Also, if the wokan is 9th or 10th level, this feat allows the wokan simply to increase the damage or effect of the spell by half (subject to GM review and approval). Thus, a spell that does 5d8 damage would do 5d8 x 1.5 damage. This does not increase the frequency of use for borrowing nature's power.
