Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is the act or process of making possible a compatible use for a property through repair, alterations, and additions while preserving those portions or features which convey its historical, cultural, or architectural values.

Standards for Rehabilitation

Provide guidance in making suitable decisions when planning repairs, adjustments, and additions that may be included in a rehabilitation project. The Guidelines that accompany the Standards apply the Standards and specify particular treatments that do and do not fulfil the Standards. The Rehabilitation Standards are established in 36 CFR Part 67, are regulation for the Historic Preservation Tax Incentives programme, and are the Standards most commonly applied by local historic district commissioners around the country.

The kitchen has been renovated because termites have destroyed the wood in the kitchen. As a result, the Kitchen area used different materials. However, the other part of the house was still in good condition and was maintained.

Haji Ibrahim also stated that if there is anything in the Villa that need to be replaced, it still will be kept the same original design. That is why rehabilitation is the best choice for the historic preservation approach of Villa Sentosa.
