When I started at Singer, my first impression was "this is how ALL workplaces should be." One ongoing pandemic later my opinion hasn't changed at all!
When I proposed a change to my job role and the company structure, the senior management listened with an open mind. They agreed and a new department was born. Boom!
I’ve worked for Singers for over 6 years now and have seen a few changes but the core values and ethos have remained the same.
To me the work/life balance is really important and this is the first place I’ve worked, where this is also valued. I love that you’re encouraged to take your breaks at the same time, so there’s an opportunity to chat with other colleagues who don’t work in your immediate team. There’s also always something going on in the staff room too, from darts to jigsaw puzzles and boules outside when it’s sunny!
Singers encourage personal development in lots of different ways, so when the Logistics Administrator position became available I requested a move, giving me the opportunity to learn a different part of the business, developing my skills in the process.
Singer instruments is a progressive, creative and wonderfully open thinking company that offer all who work there the chance to contribute across so many areas of the business. They embrace everyone’s input and ideas and make team members feel truly valued.
Being a PhD student based at Singers was an amazing experience. I'd never thought I was gonna be doing molecular biology research using robots while watching sheep and cows from the window. If you haven't tried, I recommend you do!
The atmosphere mixed with the potential for career growth is what makes me glad to be working here. There is such a focus on training compared to previous places I've worked at. The hardest waste to measure and minimise is wasted talent. I think singers does a great job of recognising this and putting people in positions where they can excel. On top of this the atmosphere is phenomenal and its a great working environment.
Singer Instruments is such a friendly and supportive place to work, it feels like a big family. I started in early 2022 and I still haven't had a bad day!
Great group of people to work with and large variety of work.
Where else in the south west can you play with robots all day and get paid for it?!
When I joined Singer Instruments it was a relatively small family company. Everyone worked well together. Like a family. The satisfaction of our customers was the most important aim 'Responsibility to Science'. Even though the comapany has grown considerably since then and individual departments have been formed we still keep these values. This has become even more apparent during the recent COVID-19 restrictions where great effort has gone into the welfare and support of all of the employees. Every employee of Singer Instruments is not just a number they are important cogs in the wheel and it is regularly communicated to everyone to make sure we all remember it.
I never thought in a million years I would end up with such an awesome job straight out of university. I mean who doesn't want to work with robots and nerd out over the cool stuff people are doing with them. I feel very privileged to be surrounded by a close knit team who support and encourage each others growth
Lovely place and lovely people. Couldn't say a bad word about anyone. Singers is an amazing place and I really enjoy coming into work every morning. When you come work at Singers you quickly find yourself surrounded by engaged, fun and passionate people. We're really dedicated to our goals of accelerating science and investing in people rather than just towing the corporate line in the hopes of getting a leg up on the ladder. It's something quite special and it's the way work should be. The work is challenging and there's plenty of opportunity to learn new things and immediately start applying them. Singers is incredibly flexible and dynamic and we don't stand still if something doesn't work. Of course I recommend working here!
