INTERVIEW MIREIA

In this interview we had asked MIREIA PRAT, the English teacher, by  ANIOL BANCELLS

WHERE DO YOU LIVE?

I live in Arbúcies, a small town at 30 minutes of Maçanet de la Selva.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

I'm from Arbúcies too. I have my family there.

ARE YOU MARRIED? DO YOU HAVE CHILDREN?

I am not married, but I have a partner. I don't have children at the moment, but I would like to have it in the future.

WHAT ARE YOU TEACHER OFF?

I'm an English teacher, although I could also teach French. In addition, I collaborate with the Erasmus project and English certification.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ASPECT ABOUT YOUR SUBJECT?

I really like talking to the students, to improve their English. I also like the dynamics. I don't like the theoretical parts very much because I see that the students don't enjoy the class and it costs a lot more to do the class.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A TEACHER? 

I always wanted to be a teacher, I remember when I was 8 years old I already wanted to be an English teacher.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE AOUT BEING A TEACHER? AND DON'T LIKE?

The communication and attitudes I have with the students, the relationship I have with them. What I don't like is that sometimes I lose a lot of patience or there are topics that are difficult to discuss with teenagers. I'm very happy.

IF YOU WEREN'T A TEACHER, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO?

I would like to be a psychologist because I've always liked dealing with people.

WHICH TEACHERS DO YOU GET ALONG WELL WITH?

I get on well with everyone even though the fact of having two schools, I have more relationship with the teachers of this school.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?

I really like sports, going to the gym, reading, going for a run in the open air. For example Arbúcies since we have nature very close. Also I like a lot travel.

IF YOU HAD TO DO A SPORT NOW, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

The fact is that I was playing football when I was in the 3rd grade of ESO until the first year of high school. I left it for studies. Also swimming because I like it.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TEAM?

Barça (FC Barcelona) and Girona (Girona FC) definitely.

IF YOU HAD TO TRAVEL NOW, WHERE WOULD YOU GO?

USA has always been my dream and my priority, although luckily, thanks to my parents I was able to go there once. I was in San Francisco, New York, Washington, and I would like to go back there. Right now, my favorite destination would be Canada.

WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE MEAL?

I like all types of pasta. 

IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY, WHAT WOULD YO DO?

Travel, all over the world. Depending on the money I would travel to one place or another, or everywhere.

WHICH FAMOUS PERSON WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET?

I don't have a famous favorite, but for example some singers like Adele or someone.

HOW MANY LANGUAGES DO YOU SPEAK?

I speak Catalan, Spanish, English, French and maybe a bit of Italian.

DO YOU LIKE WATCHING MOVIES AND SERIES, OR READING BOOKS?

I really like Spanish books and series. I also like movies in general, but I think I prefer reading.

My favorite books are by Joël Dicker, all the sagas he has I like it.

DO YOU LIKE MEETING FRIENDS AND FAMILY?
Yes, I love it as I am a very family person. I spend a lot of time with them at the weekend. With friends it is more complicated since they are from Barcelona or travel and it is difficult to see each other.

WHICH CULTURE DO YOU LIKE TO KNOW?

As I like to travel, any culture I would like to know.

WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER FROM YOUR CHILDHOOD?

I remember a childhood with my parents and grandparents as I told you before I am very familiar person. My parents helped me in everything. The memories I have are that my parents worked a lot and I was with my grandparents and uncles a lot.

WHERE DID YOU GO TO PRIMARY SCHOOL? AND SECONDARY?

I went to Arbúcies in a private school called Vedruna. Also I went to High school of Arbúcies called Montsuriu.

WHO IS THE TEACHER THAT YOU REMEMBER IN YOUR CHILDHOOD?

Teacher as good, I remember a 4th grade teacher who was also my tutor. He helped me a lot at that time in my life and was with me a lot. In fact, when I started working as a teacher we met in Banyoles. As a bad thing, a teacher told me that languages ​​were useless and it really affected me. I had a really bad time in the first year of my career in the university.

WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE ABOUT OUR HIGH SCHOOL?

Something about the disciplines. I'm very happy, that's why I've been here for three years now, but if they were stricter I'd be in favor and I'd be the first to change it. In addition, respect for teachers.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT MAÇANET DE LA SELVA?

I don't know much about the town, but I would certainly like to know it more. But from what I know about the town, I really like it.

DO YOU HAVE ANY PETS?

No I don't have.
