Remember that there are three levels of sources:
1) Popular (written by paid employees for companies seeking a profit)
2) Professional (written by professionals)
3) Scholarly (written by experts, usually peer-reviewed by other experts and published in academic journals)
EBSCOhost is a virtual platform that gives SBA students access to lots of popular, professional, and scholarly sources from videos to articles.

The Gale Virtual Reference Library is a database that provides access to scholarly journal articles, encyclopedias, and other professional specialized research sources.
Steps to access the Gale search bar:

2) Click on the TEL logo in the top right corner.

Issues and Controversies in History is a website that offers in-depth explorations of major topics in American History curriculum, including a vast collection of professional and primary sources.
JSTOR is an online database containing leading scholarly journals and selective monographs. This highly reliable site offers in-text highlighting, high-definition photographs, searchable text, and interdisciplinary historical research. If you create a free account, you can bookshelf up to 6 articles at a time.

The Library of Congress is an online platform that provides online photography catalogs, archives, and a sound online inventory. This is a good starting place for primary sources.

Medline Plus is a professional online resource that provides information about diseases, conditions, and wellness issues where you can learn about the latest treatments, look up information on a drug or supplement, or view medical videos in this free site produced by the National Library of Medicine, the world’s largest medical library.

ProCon.org is a nonpartisan resource that provides students with professional information regarding both sides of controversial issues. ProCon.org has the following mission: to promote critical thinking, education, and informed citizenship by presenting the pro and con arguments to controversial issues in a straightforward, nonpartisan, freely accessible way.

PubChem is an open, professional database where you can find "chemical and physical properties, biological activities, safety and toxicity information, patents, literature citations and more." PubChem is a product of the National Library of Medicine, and it is constantly updating its databases and resources.
An excellent source of historical, cultural, and geographic information, this online reference gives the user access to a vast archive of material arranged in an easy-to-use format. From Andrew Jackson to the Tennessee Valley Authority, from Elvis Presley to Alex Haley, you will find a wealth of professional information about the people, places, and institutions that make up Tennessee’s culture and history.
