2025
First grade school textbooks
BILAT, a Deaf NGO in Tanzania, is currently translating first grade school textbooks from Swahili to Tanzanian Sign Language. They are using Bloom software developed by SIL.

Mentoring & Role Model Program
BILAT and SIL GSLT partnered to design and fund a mentoring and role model programme in Deaf schools in 10 different regions in Tanzania. 20 Deaf adult volunteers help Deaf children to improve their sign language ability and their social skills. They employ story telling, drama with role playing, songs and their life experiences as they meet with the children.
COVID-19
After a visit from SIL GSLT in March of 2020 BILAT, a Deaf NGO in Tanzania, decided to teach the Deaf in Tanzania about COVID. They produced two videos - an informational video and a ballad (song).
BILAT also participated in ADMA's COVID-19 video project.
They produced an updated informational video in Tanzanian Sign Language.
Community Service
SIL GSLT also partnered with BILAT to provide equipment and supplies so that Deaf vounteers could make masks to distribute to poor Deaf in many parts of Tanzania. They also provided supplies for sanitising and food.
