College Services for Students with Disabilities:

While it is not necessary for students to inform the Admissions office about a disability, either on an application or during an interview, students may want to disclose so that the school can provide information about the disability services they offer.  Also, many colleges allow students with disabilities to ask for special consideration during the admissions process if it is needed.  All colleges have disabilities services; most have a separate Disabilities Services Office.  If a student will need accommodations, it is crucial to meet with the Disability Services staff as early as possible.  This will help with the planning for appropriate services, accommodations, or auxiliary aids.  All students who self-identify must provide adequate proof of disability before accommodations can be provided.  The type of psych-educational evaluation documentation required varies from college to college.  Below are disability service contacts for some of our local colleges.
