We always emphasize the importance of organization, preparation, and responsibility. Therefore, we ask that you assist your child to take responsibility for doing his/her work at home. Your role as a parent is as a facilitator or resource person. Choose a time of day that works best for you and your child, and make HW a daily routine. Your child should be able to complete HW independently with little to no support. If your child truly exhibits frustration or confusion, please let us know.
You can help your child by:
establishing the importance of completing schoolwork.
setting up sufficient and consistent times to regularly work on the assignments.
decide together in a place where home assignments will be completed without distractions.
help him/her by having all the appropriate materials available.
make sure their work is done neatly.
Your child will receive a HW packet to complete weekly. Every Monday, we will send home an English, Spanish, and Math packet for your child to complete and send back to school on Friday. Have your child complete 1-2 pages of each packet throughout the week (no more than 10-15 minutes a night). We understand that sometimes "life gets in the way". If you need the weekend to complete the packets, no worries. Simply complete the packet over the weekend and return it to school on Monday.
In addition to the packet, it is good practice to read with your child every night. Children gain from being read to, reading along with you, and reading to you. Enjoy spending some time reading throughout the week with your child to help them establish a love for reading.
