Faculty Bios

Dr. Susan Turner Radin

Turner has been dancing, choreographing, and teaching for twenty-five years.  Her mission as an artist and an educator is to introduce and advocate for dance as a medium for personal, cultural, and social expression, with an emphasis on developing a person’s unique creative voice. She began her professional career in 1996 when she founded Turner Dance Industries, a non-profit modern dance company, that performed theme-based dance works in theatres, colleges, and K-12 schools throughout the Northeast and abroad for ten years. AFter teaching dance in NYC for five years, she founded the Whitman Dance Program in the Performing Arts Department of Walt Whitman High School in South Huntington where she has been blessed to teach for twenty years.  Concurrently, Turner teaches dance pedagogy at Hofstra University and is a cooperating teacher for Hofstra’s student teachers. Turner serves as a dance representative for the Long Island Scholar Artist Award, is a member of the NY State Education Department’s committee for the Individual Arts Assessment Pathway and is an experienced curriculum and grant writer. In 2005, she taught dance in Australia for the Global Neighborhood Project.   In 2018, Turner was honored by NY State’s Dance Education Association with the NY State Dance Educator of the Year award.  Turner received a bachelor's degree with Honors in political science and international studies from Boston College and her master's degree in dance and dance education from Columbia University, Teacher’s College.  She received her doctoral degree in Teaching and Learning at Hofstra University and received the H. Alan Robinson Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award. Turner, her husband James, their two amazing boys and puppy live in East Atlantic Beach where every day is a new adventure!



Ms. Olivia Minogue

Ms. Minogue is a dancer, choreographer and educator based in New York. She began her classical ballet training under Kathleen Kairns-Scholz at American Ballet Studio. With ABS, Minogue danced with American Dance Theatre of Long Island in their annual performance of Clara’s Dream the Nutcracker. She is fortunate to have danced lead roles such as Dew Drop Fairy, Lead Spanish Variation and The Soldier Doll. 

After her time at ABS, she attended Adelphi University to pursue a Bachelors of Fine Arts (BFA) in Dance Performance. At Adelphi she has worked with faculty Orion Duckstein, Adelheid B. Strelick; Jennifer Kreichman. One of her memorable roles at Adelphi was The Catcher in Christopher Flemings’ Playball!. Minogue has also trained professionally with world renowned dance companies such as American Ballet Theatre, Martha Graham Dance Company, Paul Taylor American Modern Dance, Mark Morris Dance Group, Rioult Dance NY and Joffrey Ballet School. Ms. Minogue is a past intern with Paul Taylor American Modern Dance and Alison Cook Beatty Dance Company. 

After graduating Cum Laude from Adelphi University, she went on to dance with Praevado Dance Collective. While dancing with Praevado, Minogue went back to Adelphi University to earn her Masters of Arts in Physical Education where she graduated in May of 2022. 

Ms. Minogue holds New York State Teaching Certifications in both Dance and Physical Education. Ms.Minogue is always finding ways to further her education. She is currently a Teacher Fellow with the 92nd Street Y, Dance Education Laboratory. In addition, this past August Minogue graduated from Lehman College with an Advanced Certification in Health Education. Lastly, Ms. Minogue is a 200 hour certified Yoga Instructor.
