II. Course Description
Team Sports 1 (9-12)
This curriculum offers students the opportunity to engage in dual and team sports with a strong emphasis on the foundational skills associated with strategy, teamwork, and the physical basics. All activities will be played at a moderate level. Activities may include but are not limited to volleyball, soccer, floor hockey, badminton, weight training, ultimate frisbee, football, and recreational games.
Team Sports 2 (10-12)
This curriculum offers students a highly competitive and physically demanding team sports class. This class will emphasize advanced skills training, rules, and complex strategies will be taught and emphasized. Admittance to this class is based on teacher recommendation. Activities may include but are not limited to football, basketball, softball, team handball, volleyball, soccer, and floor hockey.
III. Course Materials
A. Exercise Clothes- Wear clothing that covers the body from the shoulders to mid thigh. In addition, wear sneakers to safely participate in PE.
B. Lockers- Use your school-issued locker in both the North and South Gyms. Lock up your valuables and they won’t get stolen. Do not share with others!
C.Chromebook- I will communicate important information through my Google Site, Google Classroom, and Parent Square. Check your grades regularly on Infinite Campus.
IV. Procedures
A. Get to the gym on time and use the locker room to change and lock up valuables. Feel free to use the bathroom at this time.
B. When the 5 minute bell rings, wait in the gym for me to take attendance and give further instructions.
C. At the conclusion of class, students must remain with me before being dismissed.
D. There is a zero tolerance policy on bullying so please report any issues to me.
E. In the event of an injury or medical situation, please speak to me and I will assign you written work on Google Classroom.
V. Grading Policy: The 3 B’s
A. BE PRESENT- You must be in class to earn credit. The first TWO legal absences are not marked against you. After those two absences, you will lose 8 points off your grade for an absence, legal or not.
B. BE PREPARED- Change your clothes and make sure they are school AND exercise appropriate. Sneakers are a must. Do not bring your phone or headphones to class. If these requirements are not met, you will lose 8 points off your grade.
C. BE ACTIVE- Try your best and forget the rest! If there is a complete lack of effort and disrespect, you will lose 8 points off your grade.
D. In the result of a failing grade, 64% or lower, you must attend extra PE makeup sessions. Dates, times, and locations will vary. I will send Parent Square messages throughout the quarter to keep you up to date.
