I grew up in a small town an hour and a half north of Shorewood, called Chilton. Growing up, my dad was a 7th grade math teacher. He was the person that really influenced me into becoming a teacher when I got older. I often helped him staple math tests together and corrected student assignments. I spent a lot of days after school playing teacher on his classroom whiteboard with my twin sister, Janelle.
I went to UW-Eau Claire and graduated in 2012 with bachelor's degree in teaching. The first five years I spent teaching reading and writing in Durand, Wisconsin (near Eau Claire). My husband and I then moved to Shorewood in the summer of 2018. Afterwards, I taught one year in Grafton (3rd grade) before landing my dream job teaching 5th grade here at Atwater Elementary. I have always taught ELA (reading and writing), and love having the chance to connect with students over books!
In my spare time, I spend a lot of time with family. I have three older sisters and one twin sister (who is 30 seconds younger). I also have six nephews and three nieces, all who live within five minutes to a couple of hours drive from me. I love traveling and exploring new places, spending time outdoors, camping, working out, reading books, watching movies, listening to music, and playing collaborative board games with my husband and twin sister.
