Imagine unearthly small mites feasting on your dead skin cells. Imagine wormlike mites burrowing into
the crevasses in your
very own skin. Imagine
if these organisms
numbered to the
trillions! And 99.999%
of species are estimated
to be yet discovered.
These organisms are
everywhere, from your wall
to a glass of water that you drank not so long ago. And
I’m kind of guessing that you haven’t really thought about what mite be on your own skin. (The pun was intended.)
And if you’re one of those people who kills bugs because of how they look, there are microscopic bugs in the deepest cracks in your skin right now, and there is nothing you can do about it.
But what are these beings? Are they friend or foe?
I’m sure some microscopic organisms are bad for your personal hygiene or something. But in my personal opinion, they’re friends. The species that I have heard about, if I had to choose one, do help you by eating dead skin cells, a common treat for a microscopic organism. If they didn’t eat the useless cells, your skin could likely clog with the dead cells.
So don’t make it your mission to try hopelessly to get them off. They won’t harm you.
Still uneasy? I would suggest instead of imagining them as unearthly small mites living in the millions I would think of them as earthly small mites eating your no longer usable skin, living in large numbers on your pillow, not affecting you in the slightest. I hope you enjoyed this article.
