If you read the latest school newspaper you might have read an article called How to Show Kindness, we are trying to tell stories about how people were kind or nice to us. This story is about how to show integrity. This story did not happen to us but it is a really nice story to tell. It is a true story, and we wanted to share our perspective about this.
One day we were in reading class and we were watching a video about a girl named Desiree (D for short). D has down syndrome. D is also a cheerleader. One day she was cheerleading at her school's basketball game when some kids started making fun of her.
Three boys told the people who were making fun of her to stop. They said that just because she has down syndrome does not mean she should be treated differently.
This shows integrity because even when no one was watching the boys did the right thing and helped Desiree. They are even thinking about calling the gym “D’s House” because that is where all of this happened. D no longer walks by herself in the halls. And the three basketball players will always stick up for her.
D said she wants to be famous in the video, but the news cast said they think D already is famous, we agree. The three boys could have just ignored the kids that were bullying D, but she might not have had a happy smile on her face.
