The National FFA organization is a national youth organization with over 750,000 members and 8,500 chapters in all 50 United States, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Formally known as the Future Farmers of America, FFA formed in 1928 as a vocational agriculture training program. FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
The Tomales FFA chapter is located in Tomales, California. We belong to the Sonoma Section in the North Coast Region of the California FFA Association. Our chapter has approximately 50 members and two advisors. Tomales High School is a small, rural high school, and the only high school that offers agriculture courses in Marin County. The current enrollment of Tomales High School is 145 students from both Marin and Sonoma Counties. Our high school draws students from approximately 450 square miles of beautiful coastline from Olema, north to Bodega Bay, and the surrounding areas. We feel fortunate to be located amongst a very diverse and productive agriculture community, from oyster farms, to livestock production, to pasture and produce crops.
