Our wobbler classroom at SHACC is a thoughtfully designed space that balances structure with the freedom to explore, helping young children between the ages of 1 and 2 feel secure while discovering their growing abilities. We understand that this stage of development is characterized by increasing curiosity, mobility, and the emergence of individual personalities. To support each child’s growth, our classroom is filled with developmentally appropriate materials and activities that encourage exploration, discovery, and hands-on learning.
We recognize that each child is unique, so we work closely with families to create a consistent and predictable routine that meets each child’s individual needs. This includes maintaining familiar patterns for nap times, meals, and play to provide a sense of stability and comfort. We support children as they transition from bottles to solid foods, helping them explore new tastes and textures while building independent feeding skills, such as using utensils and drinking from a cup. Our teachers provide gentle guidance and encouragement during mealtimes, fostering a positive relationship with food and supporting each child’s growing autonomy.
In our warm and engaging environment, our teachers prioritize building strong, trusting relationships with each child. We believe that positive interactions are the foundation of a child’s social and emotional development, so our teachers spend plenty of time interacting with the children through activities like singing, reading stories, and engaging in sensory play that stimulates their developing senses. We offer comfort through cuddling, gentle conversations, and one-on-one attention, ensuring that each child feels valued, heard, and understood.
Our wobbler classroom is filled with opportunities for active play and discovery, supporting young children as they master new skills like walking, climbing, and communicating their needs. Through activities such as music and movement, simple art projects, and exploratory play, we help wobblers develop their fine and gross motor skills, language abilities, and social interactions. Our goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where children feel confident to explore, try new things, and grow at their own pace, all while knowing they have a trusted adult nearby to support and guide them.
