Health Care Careers are in high demand. The field is growing and diversifying. The Health Care Career courses cover a broad array of healthcare topics through engaging project based learning experiences. The three courses are designed to be taken in any order. Students will be most successful if these courses were taken after or concurrently with Living Environment/ Biology Regents.

Course Description
This semester-long course focuses on patient and community healthcare: The legal and ethical principles of a healthcare worker, understanding the patient as a person, planning for a disaster. Students will be introduced to a variety of healthcare careers and engage in hands-on project based learning. Connections with industry professionals will be made throghout this course via guest speakers and/or field trips.

Course Description
This semester course focuses on disease and the human body. Students will learn anatomy and physiology, infection control, vital signs and other topics through hands-on project based learning experiences. This includes research, informal presentations and group activities.

Course Description
In this course, students will learn vocabulary and terms derived specifically from Latin and Greek roots, which are used in modern medical terminology. Students will also learn the history of medicine in the Greco-Roman world and its importance to the medical tradition as it developed in Western culture. This course will be focused on the language of medicine but will incorporate history, literature, and philosophy to enhance students’ understanding of modern medical terminology and practice.
