For over 20 years, Shenandoah Valley McDonald’s Family Restaurants have partnered with local high schools to identify qualified graduating seniors to apply for the AP Boxley McDonald’s: Student & Teacher Achievement Award. Established in honor of McDonald’s founder, Ray A. Kroc, this program recognizes high school seniors who demonstrate leadership in school and community activities, as well as the teachers who inspire them.
The scholarship is open to high school seniors who demonstrate:
• Leadership, by serving in leadership positions in school, church or community organizations.
• Scholarship, by applying or planning to apply to an accredited college, university, or technical school and demonstrating a strong commitment to academics.
• Extra-curricular Activities/Work Experience, by participating in school-sponsored activities such as athletics, clubs, and fine arts and/or working a part-time job and gaining workplace experience.
• Community Service, by volunteering time to help those in need and supporting local groups, businesses, and neighborhood organizations.

The purpose of these scholarships is to provide financial assistance to qualified and deserving students attending post-high school educational or training institutions who plan to enter the construction industry in their professional careers, including but not limited to contractors, skilled trades, architectural, and engineering.
The AGCVA Valley District Zachary Fletchall Memorial Construction Scholarships are funded by the AGCVA Valley District. Each annual scholarship will be $1,500 (minimum of 2).
Applicant must be a citizen of the United States.
Applicant must be a full-time high school student or full- or part-time student if enrolled in a post-high school institution.
It is preferred that applicants live within the counties of the AGCVA Valley District which include: Augusta, Clarke, Frederick, Highland, Page, Rockingham, Shenandoah, and Warren counties.
Applicant must be applying to or currently enrolled in an accredited institution including technical/training centers, community colleges, or colleges/universities.
Applicant must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Previous applicants, including previous scholarship recipients, may apply each year.

This scholarship provides an award to individuals focusing on natural resource/environmental conservation.
The 2026 Scholarship will be $1,100.00

VFW Post 2447 will award a $1,000 scholarship to graduating seniors from each of the following: Central, Stonewall Jackson and Strasburg, Triplett Tech and private schools/homeschool. This annual scholarship has been established to honor retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Ray Powell, who passed away on June 23, 2019 after many years of service to his community. Based on the number of applicants, additional awards may be made for second and third place.
Eligibility: Applicant must be a graduating High School Senior and reside in Shenandoah County. The applicant must submit a one-page essay based on an interview by the student of a veteran of the US Armed Forces who served in a war, campaign, or expedition on foreign soil or in hostile waters. Liz Kleese taught in Shenandoah County Schools for 10 1/2 years. She taught Gifted and Talented students at PMMS, W.W. Robinson Elementary School, and Woodstock Middle School. She was recognized as Shenandoah County's "Teacher of the Year" during the 1999-2000 school year. She was loved and respected by her students, colleagues, and administrators. She had an energetic spirit and she always looked on the brighter side of life. After losing her battle with cancer in 2003, her family and friends established the Elizabeth Kleese Memorial Scholarship in her memory.
In support of this, a graduating senior from each high school in the Shenandoah County Public School System who plans to improve his or her education is eligible to apply for this scholarship.

The Douglas Alumni Association wishes to present a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior of your school. The criteria for the scholarship is as follows:
The student is connected to a family member that once attended Douglas High School in Winchester, VA prior to closing in 1966.
The student must be accepted and enrolled in a two or four year institute of higher education.
The student must have a need for financial assistance.

Purpose: To promote the education of Virginia citizens in technical fields with natural resource conservation and environmental protection.
To give financial support to students majoring in or showing a strong desire to major in a course curriculum related to natural resource conservation and/or environmental studies.
Qualifications: Individual applicants must be Virginia residents and full-time students enrolled in or who have applied to a college freshman level curriculum. Applicants shall document a class ranking in the top 20% of his or her graduating class or a 3.0 or greater Grade Point Average or appropriate equivalent of individual scholastic achievement. A copy of the applicant's most recent official school transcript must accompany the application. Applicants shall demonstrate active interest in conservation.
Only one applicant per district may be submitted. Applications should be made from the county the student resides or attends school. Eligible applicants must reside or attend school within a local Soil and Water Conservation District.
It is the responsibility of the districts to screen applications for eligibility in accordance with the criteria stated herein. Applications not fulfilling minimum criteria shall not be considered.
Amount Awarded: FOUR $2,000 scholarships will be given to statewide winners. Two scholarships are awarded on behalf of the VASWCD Education Foundation and two scholarships are awarded on behalf of the Virginia Chapter of the Soil & Water Conservation Society. A check will be issued directly to the selected institution of higher education on behalf of the student.

The Hamburg Ruritan Club (HRC) participates with the Ruritan Foundation in the Friends of the Foundation program and Build Your Dollars program to award a scholarship to a first-year college student from Shenandoah County. HRC must make a selection and return the selected application to the Ruritan Foundation. The Ruritan Foundation deadline for submission of documentation is June 30, 2026 for this award year. HRC plans to award a scholarship of at least $1000. HRC may award an additional amount and/or additional scholarships to other deserving applicants. The application procedure is outlined below. This scholarship opportunity is open to seniors attending Shenandoah County public high schools – including Stonewall Jackson High School, Central High School, and Strasburg High School; private high schools – including Valley Baptist High School, and; home schooled students residing in Shenandoah County who will be awarded a high school diploma by June of 2026.

The Hamburg Ruritan Club (HRC) is pleased to announce the 2026 Service Scholarship for high school seniors who have provided outstanding service to the Hamburg Ruritan Club. This scholarship is based on the volunteer hours that a student has given each year during their high school years (grades 9 – 12) supporting the HRC with annual fund raising events, community events and club projects.
Examples include hours staffing the food booth at the Edinburg Old Time Festival, hours helping club members with group litter pickups, hours driving golf carts at the Shenandoah County Fair transporting attendees from and to the parking lots and entrance gates, hours assisting club members with the Empty Christmas Stocking project, and hours helping with other club organized events such as yard sales, distributing dictionaries to schools, etc. HRC awarded the first service scholarships in May 2022 and plans to award a scholarship of at least $1000 in 2026. HRC may award an additional amount and/or additional scholarships to other deserving applicants. The application procedure for 2026 is outlined below.
This program is open to all seniors in Shenandoah County, including those attending public and private high schools, as well as those participating in home school programs who will be receiving their high school diploma by June 2026.

The Hamburg Ruritan Club (HRC) is pleased to announce the 2026 James Miller Memorial Scholarship for $1000. James Miller was a farmer in Shenandoah County, an employee of Valley Fertilizer for 44 years and a long-time active member of the Hamburg Ruritan Club. HRC established this scholarship fund in 2021 to honor Mr. Miller’s dedication and service to HRC and the agricultural industry. HRC awarded the first scholarship in June 2021. The application procedure for 2026 is outlined below. This program is open to seniors attending public or private high schools in Shenandoah County, as well as home schooled students who will receive their high school diploma by June of 2026.

Scholarship Criteria:
This scholarship is to be awarded to a Central High School Senior who plans to obtain a degree in Education.
Mrs. Donna Babcock was a teacher for SCPS for over 30 years.

The Fort Valley Ruritan Club (FVRC) participates with the Ruritan Foundation in the Friends of the Foundation program to award a scholarship to a College or Career and Technical School student who resides in Fort Valley. FVRC will make a selection and turn in the selected applicant information to the Ruritan Foundation. Typically, a scholarship amount is around $600 but can vary slightly from year to year depending on the Ruritan Foundation funding. The application procedure is outlined below. This program is open to any student who resides in Fort Valley.
