UPDATE as of 2/17/22
The teams participating in this event will need to bring the Dash robot(s) from your school. ***
Name the Dash robot(s) within the Blockly program to match the team name on the Ring Master's Hat. This will help with connecting Dash to the device.
Mark the Dash robot(s) in some way with your school name so they are not mixed up or lost during the event.
Charge the Dash robot(s) before arriving for the event. We will have extras on hand just in case we need them.
We will collect the Dash robot when you check-in on the day of the event. We will have them ready for the challenge when you arrive to the event room.
We will provide the device (iPad) and the launching accessories.
***If you are unable to bring a Dash for each or any of the teams participating in the coding event, that is not a problem. We will have extra Dash robots ready to go for the event.
Your Dash team must entertain the audience using the launcher accessory! You will need to gather data to navigate the circus grounds before coding Dash for success. Fine-tune your Dash launcher skills so that you don’t become a big top FLOP!
As you work with your teams for this event, please focus on the following:
Writing and Sketching out a Plan with Labels
Reading a Rubric to Determine the Areas of Focus
Specific to Dash:
Trajectory/Projectile Motion
Experience with Coding Dash in the Blockly App
Coding for Dash to follow a path:
When practicing this portion, be sure that students are provided a path to code Dash to follow. Teams will create their program from the planning phase where they have access to measuring tapes. The program will then be created in its entirety before teams can do a test run to make improvements. Each team will get 2 test runs before the final testing begins.

Use this example lesson to help you get started with exploring the launching accessory.
