"Egg"cellent Airborne Brigade
For the 2026 Egg Drop Competition, the E³ planning team is honoring our beginnings with a patriotic twist!
This year’s challenge: Students will design and build a parachute (including the canopy, suspension lines, and loading base) to protect their “paratrooper” egg during a drop from approximately 20 feet. The goal is to keep the egg safe while withstanding the jump.
Specific parameters for canopy size will be announced soon. In the meantime, creativity will be key in selecting materials, determining suspension line lengths, and designing a lightweight loading base. The lightest starting weight will serve as a tiebreaker.
Students are encouraged to think outside the box and find innovative ways to help their paratrooper land quickly and safely, ready to continue the mission of protecting our freedoms.
Teams will train like an ARMY unit by planning, designing, testing, and refining their parachute before “Jump Day.” Remember: only one parachute per school will be tested, so make your final design the best it can be!
