The Highlights
Work package 1 is now complete! The links to access our poster, short summary and publication can be found in the findings section of the ‘Work Package 1’ page.
In April, we had poster presentations of WP1 findings and of WP2 design presented by Carl at the Royal College for Emergency Medicine Conference. We will also be presenting at the Health Services Research Conference in Manchester in late June!
The paper for WP1 findings was published in Age & Ageing in early May and we have had our WP2 protocol accepted for publishing by BMJ Open which should be shortly forthcoming.
In other exciting news, work package 2 is now in full swing! We faced some early recruitment challenges from the restructuring of Integrated Care Boards (the regional organisations responsible for coordinating healthcare in England). It has also been a real challenge to identify and create links with the professionals who are specifically responsible for commissioning and/or overseeing the performance of enhanced care for care homes, as this seems to vary quite a bit between areas of the country. With that being said, we have now we have picked up momentum, working through Stages 1 and 2 of data collection across all six of our case study postcode districts. We have also been working on our collaborative analysis with our patient and public involvement group members!
Timeline Check-in
We remain on schedule, with the next 6-10 months focused on WP2.
Up Next...
We are looking forward to continuing to disseminate the findings from WP1. We will be continuing our work on the case studies (WP2), with an aim to have some preliminary findings in the late summer. We will be posting new updates as the case studies progress.
Over the summer we are looking forward to our ‘Summer Research Party’ with our Alexander Court Care Home group, to celebrate the group’s achievements to date and make our plans for the future!
