We want Sheffield University students to be involved in every stage of the mobile makerspace project, from initial ideas to taking it out on the road.
See below for more details on the different stages of the mobile makerspace project.
Phase 1 - pod design and manufacture
Initially we will be focussed on designing the 4 types of pod (find out more here), ensuring they are ergonomic, user friendly and meet the projects aims. Materials and components will need to be selected and the pods completely manufactured. The working group will initially meet on the 15th July in the iForge, from 12:00 - 15:00. Food will be provided.
Phase 2 - bus design and refurbishment
The second phase will be to redesign and refurbish the bus itself. This includes designing the inner space, including the layout, implementation of the pods and interior graphics. We will need to design and implement any exterior alterations, with a new ramp system to allow full access and transportation of pods. The working group will meet mid-October.
Phase 3 - activities and implementation
In the final stages of completion, we will be planning how the makerspace will be used, creating teaching and learning concepts and activity ideas. This will include instruction sheets for setting up and using each pod, along with lesson plans. The working group will meet mid-November.
If you would like to be involved in this exciting new project, we have many opportunities for student volunteers.
