Panel Discussion

Panel session:

Friday 20th October 2023

“Wellbeing, mental health and the PhD process"

Panellists: Landon Peck, Mimi (Katherine) O'Neill and Abbigail Fleckenstein

In this panel discussion, the speakers and audience will explore issues around wellbeing and mental health facing students during their doctoral studies. Topics will include anxiety, burnout, imposter syndrome, physical health and support systems. The panellists will be speaking from varied perspectives, as each are in different stages of their academic career, currently enrolled in a PhD programme or recently graduated and in early academic positions. The panel session is intended to be collaborative, and during the hour, we would ask audience members to add to the discussion if they feel comfortable. Our goal is to examine challenging aspects to well-being during the PhD process, provide helpful advice from personal experience, hear from those who relate to the topics and foster a compassionate community that is better equipped to face these challenges”
