Who to contact within the School for help and support
If you're experiencing difficulties alongside your studies, whether they are academic, medical, or personal, please do reach out. This could be to your supervisor, independent advisor, our Student Welfare Adviser (see below), PGR Director, or central support service - whoever you feel most comfortable speaking to.

How to access support from trained staff and professionals in relation to general mental wellbeing, targeted mental health support, and register with our University Health Service
Sign up for our events, seminars and training sessions to help you improve your wellbeing, and catch up on those that you missed.
PGR students have access to the University of Sheffield's online portal containing resources to help improve your mental wellbeing.
There are networks for those struggling with emotionally demanding research, as well specific groups for those students who are parents and those who are disabled.

My role across is around student welfare and wellbeing and I am a point of contact in relation to the following areas:
Mental health and wellbeing, I can help with signposting you to relevant University Services that can offer in-depth and specialist help
Personal circumstances, such as bereavements and family circumstances
Disabilities and long-term illnesses
Anything else that is affecting your studies and ability to engage effectively.
