Online Training: the 1.0 General Workshop Online Induction is mandatory to access anywhere in the Workshop. The Machine Shop Online Inductions (2.1-2.5, 3.1-3.2) are designed to prepare you for the In-Person Practical Assessment by teaching you how to use the machines you will be assessed on. You will need to retake the Machine Shop Online Inductions if they expire before your In-Person Practical Assessment.
In-Person Practical Assessment: this session should take around 45 minutes. The purpose is to demonstrate your understanding and competency on each machine. We will answer any questions you have, and can clarify anything you don't understand. Once the assessment is completed successfully we will ask you to sign to confirm the training and we will stamp your U-Card. Please bring your U-Card to this session and to every subsequent visit to the Machine Workshop.
The "In Person Practical Sessions" will be available for you to sign up yourself Tuesday to Thursday (mornings) most weeks. Please see the Print & Make Workshop opening announcements calander on the home page to check when they are running.
Bookings can be made up to a maximum of 4 days in advance. (This applies to both laser cutter bookings and in person inductions) For example, if you wish to book the Monday 9:30am slot it will not show as available before the previous Thursday morning at 9:30am. If they appear unavailable then they are most likely fully booked.
