The Print & Make Workshop is available for you to come down and use and is split into two main areas. To use the Make Workshop, you will need to complete some safety inductions.
The facilities include:

Machine shop (bandsaws, sanding machines, pillar drills etc)
Digital room (Laser cutters & CNC routers)
Casting room
Spray booth

Print Workshop (Ground Floor)
Large Format Printing & Scanning
3D Printing & scanning
Binding
Trimming
Specialist technicians on hand to help you.
To use the Make Workshop you will need to do some basic safety training. EVERYONE will need to do some basic safety training (Module 1.0 General Workshop Induction) which will give you access to the Make Workshop EXCEPT the Machine Shop.
You will be able to login to the portal using the following link Training Portal with your university credentials. (if you cannot login please email PrintAndMake@sheffield.ac.uk with your details and we will look into it)
In order to access the Machine Shop, it is essential you complete online training - Module 1.0, Modules 2.1 - 2.5 Basic Machine Shop Induction (Parts 1 - 5).
Once you have completed all parts of the machine training you will then need to complete an in person practical session of around 45 minutes (within 1 week of completing online Machine Shop Induction Modules) to demonstrate understanding and competency on each machine.
The "In Person Practical Sessions" will be available for you to sign up yourself Tuesday to Thursday (mornings) most weeks. Please see the Print & Make Workshop opening announcements calander above.
Bookable inductions (In Person Practical Sessions) are made by using our booking site SimplyBookMe, Only book for yourself as you will get confirmation and the ability to cancel. Only use this if you miss the above sign up sessions.
Bookings can be made up to a maximum of 4 days in advance. (This applies to both laser cutter bookings and in person inductions) For example, if you wish to book the Monday 9:30am slot it will not show as available before the previous Thursday morning at 9:30am

We have a fair use policy and you will be permitted upto 2 hours per week. Please do not book more than you need, as others also want access to the equipment.

Unfortunately we are unable to store any materials or models in the workshop space.
To ensure the workshop runs as efficiently as possible, we need clear spaces for workshop bookings, students making and general workshop usage. It is best practice to remove all making equipment and outcomes at the end of your session. Please keep this in mind when planning your session.
We understand there maybe instances where it's difficult to move larger sized projects. If this is the case, please come and speak to a member of staff beforehand.
